Trying out  a few new things with outlines, or lack there of. We'll see how it goes.

I am from...

These images are from a t-shirt design I created for a 4th grade class. It was to show their ethnic diversity and each was personalized for each kid. For each individual shirt the sign with the countries is different, depending on where that particular child's family is from.

RDS

Now this is a series I have been working on since at least March of 2005. There are a number of sketches and variances of this character. Right now there are probably 3 finished pieces and somewhere more than 10 sketches, making appearances randomly throughout 5 sketchbooks.

The spark for this series comes from one of my favorite songs and sadly unreleased track from Maroon 5. There's much more to it, but I am way too lazy to go into full on detail.

MyMucha

No where near anything what a real Mucha looks like in hindsight. But he was the inspiration for the piece nevertheless.

Great Turf Under Attack

Whenever I draw grass, or even lay in my yard I think of Durer's watercolor piece. Now granted he depicted dandelions, but to me clovers are the prettier version. Both flowers take over your yard - but a clover looks much nicer while doing so.

Nighty Night

I'm too lazy to upload all five sketches, so I just included the one that started it all. This comes from my nightly ritual of bringing my own dog to bed - as he can not yet be trusted to not terrorize the cat all night long while everyone sleeps. And he is a great big unappreciative bed hog.

Waters 9255.9484-63

A result of a day at the beach. Staring at the water today reminded me of a book I owned that first made me want to be an illustrator - The Little Mermaid (the Hans Christian Anderson version) with illustrations by Charles Santore. My copy of the book is long gone by now, and I have always meant to get a new one, but it just hasn't happened yet. Luckily the internet has everything on it... And I can easily locate Santore's work whenever I want to see it.

A Boy Fallen

Attempt already failed! But this one doesn't really have a sketch to go with it.

46.2.2473-855

I'm going to attempt to post sketches and finishes together. I always seem to like the sketch better - I some how get distracted from my original intent while playing around with the colors in the final.
